World Blog by humble servant. Prophets not only taught how to have wealth and self preservation it was the key to oppose oppression. Being self sufficient
Jesus' Teachings:
Jesus' parables often dealt with themes of stewardship, wealth, and justice:
Parable of the Talents (Matthew 25:14-30): Teaches about using one's resources wisely for growth and not hoarding or squandering them.Pauline Teachings:
Thessalonians 3:10: "The one who is unwilling to work shall not eat," which emphasizes the importance of self-sufficiency through labor.Proverbs and Wisdom Literature:
Proverbs: Contains numerous teachings on wealth, work, and business ethics:
Proverbs 10:4: "Lazy hands make for poverty, but diligent hands bring wealth."
Proverbs 13:11: "Dishonest money dwindles away, but whoever gathers money little by little makes it grow." Isaiah 58:6-7 calls for justice, including sharing food with the hungry, which relates to community support systems.
The Bible does include various teachings and narratives that touch on commerce and self-sufficiency, though the focus often varies by prophet and book. In the Bible the prophets taught there people commerce and how to be self sustaining.
Deuteronomy 8:18 emphasizes that God gives the power to gain wealth: "But remember the Lord your God, for it is He who gives you the power to get wealth, that He may establish His covenant which He swore to your fathers, as it is this day." This underscores the idea that wealth is not solely the result of human effort but is also a blessing from God.
Proverbs 13:11: "Dishonest money dwindles away, but whoever gathers money little by little makes it grow."
[14:7] Your Lord has decreed: "The more you thank Me, the more I give you." But if you turn unappreciative, then My retribution is severe.
[31:20] Do you not see that GOD has committed in your service everything in the heavens and the earth, and has showered you with His blessings― obvious and hidden? Work Ethic:
Proverbs, supports the idea of diligence, honesty, and wise stewardship in gaining wealth, as seen in:
Proverbs 10:4: "Lazy hands make for poverty, but diligent hands bring wealth."
Proverbs 13:11: "Wealth gained hastily will dwindle, but whoever gathers little by little will increase it. Economic Justice and Fairness:
The Torah includes laws like not charging interest to fellow Israelites (Deuteronomy 23:19-20), leaving the corners of fields for the poor (Leviticus 19:9-10), and the laws of the Sabbatical year (every seventh year, where fields lie fallow) and the Jubilee (every 50th year, returning land to original owners). These laws promote a form of economic reset and support for the less fortunate, ensuring wealth distribution and self-sufficiency. Yet, some people argue about GOD without knowledge, without guidance, and without the enlightening scripture.
